Home Learning 25.05.12

As a reward for working so hard in your assessments this week, there is no home learning for you to do!  However, if you are really desperate to do some, try to look up some information on the Queen and the Coronation, ready for our Jubilee week next week.

Even though there is no home learning, there are a few things for you to remember:

  • Monday is our special 60 school photo, so come to school dressed smartly in your school uniform.
  • Friday is our 1950s day, so remember to sort out your costume (please see the post below for suggestions of what to wear).
  • Friday is also the day of our 1950s tea party, so please see me to sign up for the food you would like to bring (if you would rather, you can access the list here and comment to say what you would like to bring)

Dance home learning 18.05.12

Your home learning this week is a P.E. related one!  Today in class we had a listen to our song ‘Jailhouse Rock’, which we will be performing a dance to, on our 1950s day at the end of term.  For your home learning, I would like you to try to have a go at coming up with some dance moves for our routine (your parents’ help in this home learning is compulsory!!) If you are able to, and with your parents’ permission, have a look on YouTube for some inspiration.

Also, you might like to start thinking about an outfit that you could wear for this performance.  Boys, black trousers and a jacket/shirt over a black and white striped top would look good, and girls, a calf-length flowing skirt and a short-sleeved shirt or T-shirt, possibly for you.  This, however, is not compulsory!

Finally, there are no spellings this week as you will be doing a different spelling test as part of your end-of-year tests next week.

Winnie-the-Pooh’s Thames journey!

Here is the link to the Winnie-the-Pooh Thames journey.  I hope that you all manage to get it to work at home!

Life Journey Home Learning and Spellings 11.05.12

Your home learning for this week is to talk to your family about the important events that have happened in your lives so far.   You have already begun to think about some of these in class and so I would like you to come up with some more, including dates, so that you are able to produce your life journey poster at school over the next few weeks.  If you are able to, it might help to look through some photo albums to remind yourself (and your family!) of some of the things that have already happened in your life.

Also, here are your spellings for your test on Friday.

100 Word Challenge Home Learning and Spellings 04.05.12

Your home learning this week is to have a go at the 100 Word Challenge.  Your piece of writing has to include the following words:

… Marvellous  Castle  Flew  Noisily  Pink …

This means that you can actually have 105 words to use in a creative piece of writing! Try to highlight the words so that your readers can see them easily.

If you would rather, you can have a go at the 5 sentence challenge, based on the drawing below.  Your story should include one sentence for each part of the story mountain: opening, build up, problem, resolution and ending.

If you are able to, then type your piece of writing as a comment on this blog post and I will publish it for everyone to read and comment on.  If you cannot do this, please write it on the back of the homework sheet that I gave you, or on a lined piece of paper if you have lost your sheet.

Also, here are your spellings for your test on Friday.

Multiplication home learning 27.04.12

For your home learning this week I would like you to further practise your multiplication skills.  If you have lost your sheet, then you can get your copies here: Circles and Triangles, Squares and Pentagons, Hexagons or Octagons.

Also, here are your spellings for your test on Friday.

Science Day 24.04.12

What a fantastic Science Day we all had.  All of you got really involved in all of the activities and experiments that went on throughout the day and could tell me lots of different things that you had enjoyed and learnt.  Here are a few photos from the day:

Research home learning and spellings 20.04.12

For your home learning this week, I would like you to continue your Literacy research on your chosen London or Olympic topic area.  Remember to use lots of different resources such as books, people, computers, leaflets, photographs….  You can use the links down the right-hand side to help you find information (Safe Search, Kids Yahoo and Fact Monster).

Remember to only research information that you haven’t already found!  Write the information that you find on the sheet of paper you were given, or on other paper if you have lost this.

Also, here are your spellings for your test on Friday.
